Reason 13: 100,000 People Need a Home

There are approximately 100,000 on local authority housing waiting lists.  The Government doesn’t publish up-to-date data and for good reason – it would show up the level of housing need and poverty.

The numbers on the waiting list will rise because investment in housing need is falling dramatically.

During the boom, the Government lashed out tax subsidies to speculators to build over-priced housing in areas where people didn’t want to live.  But now the Government is cutting investment in housing for people in need.

Why should we march?  Because those in need should be housed, unemployed construction workers should be given a job and the economy needs the growth.
